RV Rental for Septemberfest (Omaha) in Omaha, NE

Every Labor Day weekend I get the same question: “Archie, can we just camp downtown by the river for Septemberfest?” The short answer is no — there’s no overnight RV camping at CHI Health Center or along Lewis & Clark Landing, it’s all event parking and day-use waterfront. But an RV rental for Septemberfest in Omaha still works beautifully if you set it up the way I tell my repeat customers to: stage the rig at a real campground a short drive out, and use it as your home base for the whole holiday weekend. That’s where I come in — I deliver and set up the RV so all you do is show up.

Why an RV Beats a Hotel for Septemberfest Weekend

Septemberfest runs the Labor Day stretch in early September, and downtown Omaha is busy that whole weekend — Old Market is packed, the College World Series crowds have rolled through, and downtown hotels around 68102 spike on the holiday. An RV gives you your own kitchen, your own beds, and your own bathroom without paying a downtown holiday rate. The early-September weather here is usually warm afternoons in the 80s with cool evenings — perfect for sitting out at a campsite after a day at the festival, but warm enough during the day that you’ll want the air conditioning running, which every rig I deliver handles.

This is genuinely the best time of year to camp around here. The summer humidity is breaking, the state parks aren’t as jammed as they are in July, and the drive into downtown for the festival is quick from the spots I recommend.

Where to Park the RV for Septemberfest

Since you can’t overnight at the venue, here are the campgrounds I actually deliver to for downtown events, ranked by how I’d send a first-timer:

  • West Omaha KOA — Easiest call for festival-goers. Quick to reach off I-80 on the west edge of town, full hookups, and the sites are wide enough that I don’t have to fight to back a trailer in. From here you’re a straight shot east on I-80/I-480 into downtown.
  • Council Bluffs KOA / Bluffs Run area — Just across the river in Iowa off I-29. It’s honestly one of the closest full-hookup options to CHI Health Center, often 15–20 minutes to downtown when traffic cooperates.
  • Eugene T. Mahoney State Park (Ashland) — My pick if you want to make a weekend of it. It’s about a 30–35 minute run down I-80, and the park itself is a destination — great if you’ve got kids and want them busy when you’re not at the festival.
  • Lake Manawa State Park — Right off I-29 on the Iowa side, close in with lake access for an easy second day.
  • Louisville & Platte River State Recreation Areas — A little farther southwest near the Platte, quieter and good if the closer KOAs are already booked over the holiday.

One real tip from years of doing this: book your campsite the moment you decide to come. Labor Day weekend fills the close-in parks fast, and the state park reservations for Mahoney and Louisville open well ahead. I can talk you through which loop to request for a smooth setup.

How Delivery Works

You don’t need to tow anything or know how to level a trailer. I bring the RV to your campsite, get it level, hook up water, power, and sewer where the site allows, and walk you through everything before I leave. After Septemberfest, I come back and haul it out — you just lock up and drive home. This is how most of my festival and event customers go, because it means zero learning curve on a holiday weekend. Full details are on my RV delivery page.

I deliver across the Greater Omaha metro — Omaha, Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Gretna, Council Bluffs, Elkhorn, and out toward Ashland and Fremont. If you’re flying in to Eppley Airfield (OMA) for the festival, an RV waiting at a campground is an easy way to skip the hotel scramble entirely.

Getting Downtown to the Festival

From the west-side and Iowa-side campgrounds, you’ll take I-80 to I-480 or I-29 into downtown. Septemberfest parking is around the CHI Health Center and downtown lots, and I always tell folks to leave the RV at the campsite and drive the tow vehicle or rideshare in — backing a big rig into a downtown event lot near the Old Market on a busy Saturday is not how you want to start your day. Park once, walk the festival, and you’ve still got the riverfront, the Old Market, and the Henry Doorly Zoo all close by to round out the weekend.

What’s the Right RV for Septemberfest?

For a couple or a small group, a travel trailer parked at the KOA is plenty and keeps your cost down. For families or a group splitting the weekend, I’ll match you to something larger with more sleeping room — but I size it to the campsite, because some of the prettier state park loops run short and a too-long rig is a headache to place. Tell me how many people and where you want to stay, and I’ll pick the unit that actually fits the site. Specific inclusions vary, so ask me what comes with each RV when you call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I camp in an RV at CHI Health Center for Septemberfest?

No — there’s no overnight RV camping at the venue or along the downtown riverfront. It’s event and day-use parking only. The move is to set up at a nearby campground like West Omaha KOA, Council Bluffs KOA, or Mahoney State Park and drive in for the festival.

How far in advance should I book for Labor Day weekend?

As early as you can. Septemberfest falls on the Labor Day holiday, and the close-in campgrounds and state park sites book up fast. Reserve your campsite first, then contact me to confirm RV availability and lock in delivery.

Do you deliver to the campground for me?

Yes. I deliver, level, and set up the RV at your campsite throughout the Omaha metro and across the river in Council Bluffs, then return to remove it after the weekend. You never have to tow or set up anything yourself.

What’s the weather like for Septemberfest?

Early September in Omaha is usually warm — afternoons often in the 80s with comfortable, cooler evenings as the summer humidity fades. Plan for AC during the day and great campfire weather at night.
